Tinpahar

Tinpahar is an online creative space with an international readership. It aims to promote creative minds that have been out of the limelight so far and helps to reach their works to all corners of the world.

Tinpahar was created by a few of us from Visva Bharati University in Santiniketan, India, with a serious commitment to the cause of art, music, and literature. We believe that art in all forms should be freely accessible so that it can be enjoyed and appreciated by a large audience. Our website with all its rich archives is free to access and enjoy.

Tinpahar launched its first online magazine on 14th September 2012, featuring poems, stories, articles and a serial column. Since then it has published eight issues, each with something new and refreshing to offer its readers. The magazine now has several contributors for columns, featuring either literary field, personal musings, or travelogues. It also publishes scholarly essays on various topics including cinema and photography. Apart from publishing the works of new and aspiring writers, Tinpahar magazine has been fortunate to have renowned contributors like K.G. Subramanyan, Samik Bandopadhyay, Arnob, Goutam Ghosh, Amrit Gangar, Shankha Ghosh, R. Siva Kumar, Martin Kämpchen and Amartya Sen.

Tinpahar also boasts of its steadily increasing archives of music, photographs and book reviews. The Tinpahar archive is another platform where young talented musicians, photographers, and artists can make themselves heard. The archive aims to build up a rich and vast collection of music composed and performed mostly by talented, young and relatively unknown musicians and photographs and artworks of people interested in experimenting and going out of the box, challenging the notions of ‘conventional’ art and photography.
