PARTHA SARATHI DEY
WEST BENGAL STATE UNIVERSITY, BARASAT

My mind abandoned, sits below
a bridge fallen, by the river hollow,
dead, buried deep under the mud,
and sands pale and grainy,
And through the crevices I dive
with hands for shovels,
looking for hidden treasures
once belonging to the pirate fishermen,
or skeletons making love under pebbles
covered in green dust from fossils,
or for the girl who sat by it, and cried.
